What NowLesson is

NowLesson (https://nowlesson.com) is a service of Luis Emilio Liriano Aróstegui, tax ID 60038864D, Calle Alfonso XII 29, 41001 Seville (Spain); contact: privacidad@nowlesson.com. NowLesson is a tool for independent language teachers to manage their students: scheduling, payments and a classroom. It also offers a directory where teachers who wish to can show their profile to new students. NowLesson is not a party to the lesson contract between teacher and student, takes no commission on lessons and does not guarantee their outcome.

Accounts

Each person uses their own account and is responsible for what they do with it. Sign-in is with Google, email and password, or an email link.

Teacher responsibilities

Teachers set their prices and cancellation policy, deliver the lessons and are responsible for their tax obligations, including invoicing. NowLesson does not issue invoices on behalf of teachers.

Directory, profiles and reviews

Appearing in the directory is optional. Teachers are responsible for the information on their profile (education, experience, certificates, prices) being truthful; NowLesson does not verify it. Only students who have had at least one lesson with a teacher can review them, once per teacher. Reviews must reflect real experiences and may not contain insults, third parties’ personal data or advertising. NowLesson may hide reviews that break these rules. Teachers may not pay or offer anything in exchange for reviews.

Payments

Students pay the teacher directly, and the money never goes through NowLesson: by card or direct debit through the teacher’s Stripe account, or through direct payments (bank transfer, Bizum, PayPal or others) that the teacher confirms in NowLesson. NowLesson takes no commission on these payments and does not check or answer for direct payments: the lessons of a direct payment are added when the teacher confirms it. Any fees from Stripe, the bank or the payment service used are borne as that service determines. Refunds are explained in the next section.

Refunds and inactive teachers

Teachers undertake to refund lessons that were paid for and not given when the student asks, within 14 days. Students can request a refund in NowLesson; the amount is proportional to the unused lessons of that purchase. For Stripe payments the refund comes from the teacher's account; for direct payments the teacher makes it the same way. If a teacher whose students have lessons or a subscription stops teaching and doesn't reply for several weeks, NowLesson may pause their account: billing for their students' subscriptions stops and they no longer appear in the directory. NowLesson may also suspend anyone who breaches these terms. NowLesson does not receive or hold the money for lessons, so it cannot refund it on its own. Students paying by card can also claim with their bank; with SEPA direct debit, they have 8 weeks to request a refund.

Lessons, cancellations and changes

The terms shown in the teacher's policy apply (free cancellation window, fees and time changes).

NowLesson plans

Teachers get a 30-day free trial and then pay the plan that matches their active students. They can cancel at any time; the plan runs until the end of the paid period.

Referral programme

Every teacher has an invitation link. If another teacher signs up with it (within 30 days of opening it) and pays their first NowLesson fee, both receive a free month of their plan as credit on their NowLesson subscription. The inviting teacher can earn up to 12 months a year. Inviting yourself or creating accounts to obtain months is not allowed; NowLesson may cancel months obtained that way. Credit cannot be exchanged for money. This programme only affects NowLesson fees, not the money for lessons.

Liability and governing law

NowLesson is provided "as is". We do what is reasonable to keep it available and working well, but there may be interruptions for maintenance or for reasons beyond our control (for example, outages at Stripe, Google or hosting providers). NowLesson is not a party to the relationship between teacher and student: it does not deliver lessons, set their prices or terms, or answer for them. Nor is it responsible for content uploaded by users. Except in cases of wilful misconduct or gross negligence, NowLesson's liability to a teacher is limited to what that teacher paid NowLesson in the previous 12 months. Nothing in these terms limits the rights consumers have by law. These terms are governed by Spanish law. For consumers, the competent courts are those of their place of residence; otherwise, the courts of Seville.

Leaving

Any user can export their data and delete their account from Settings. NowLesson may suspend accounts that breach these terms.
