Tagline: Greetings! My name is Jessica and I am a YogaFit trained instructor pursuing a certification in Yoga Therapy who has been practicing hatha yoga since 2002 and teaching since 2004.

Description: I hail from "God's Country": The Upper Peninsula of Michigan! I love connecting to nature by participating in outdoor activities such as walking, biking and hiking, but practicing yoga on the beach is definitely my favorite. I also enjoy raising my son and hold that job to be of the utmost importance. I am so blessed to be able to say that I am a stay-at-home/work-from-home single mom!

Experience: I started practicing hatha yoga in 2002, upon the recommendation of my therapist, after being diagnosed with an anxiety disorder. I found the affects of yoga to be so powerful in treating and preventing my personal battle with anxiety, that I was encouraged to start teaching in 2004. I obtained my first teaching certification in 2005 through YogaFit and am now certified to teach beginning hatha yoga, prenatal/postpartum yoga and yoga for seniors. I teach one beginning level hatha yoga class a week in Marquette, I sell personalized yoga videos on Fiverr.com and I post free yoga videos on YouTube every day, in hopes that I might encourage more people to add yoga to their daily routine. Through my experience practicing yoga throughout the years, and from the scientific research I've read and trainings I've taken, 15-20 minutes of yoga every day is much more beneficial than attending one long class a week, which is why I have such a passion for assisting my students in establishing and maintaining a home-based yoga practice. In addition to my 8 years of experience teaching yoga, I also hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Community Health Education and am in the process of starting a Masters in Kinesiology/Exercise Science through Northern Michigan University. I also have 2 years of experience working as a Medical Transcriptionist for OB/GYN Associates of Marquette, which I strongly believe has contributed to my unique perspective and desire to teach yoga with a therapeutic intention. Yoga is quite simply the most powerful system of overall health and well-being. Before you decide to write off yoga as being out of the scope of your body’s capabilities, please take a minute to see and experience for yourself how yoga can be therapeutically practiced by any body. I very much look forward to helping you get started or enhancing your yoga practice, so I hope to hear from you soon! Namaste.
